Newfoundland dog! today I will be meeting one of the world’s toughest lifeguard dogs the king of the sea strong empathetic a friend of fishermen. and life-saving teams of the world around them truly remarkable water dog of the world. the Newfoundlands, the Newfoundland breed originated in Newfoundland Canada and is descended from a breed indigenous to the island known as the lesser Newfoundland .awesome John’s dog the Molosser like the appearance of the Newfoundland is a result of an introduction of Mastiff blood possibly from breeding with Portuguese Mastiffs brought to the islands by fishermen in the 16th century the Newfoundland is considered to be one of the most empathetic dogs on this planet its desire to help and aid humans with such sympathy and drive. comes from his history where it was developed to aid Canadian fishermen by helping to pull the boats in by rope as well as hauling in fishing nets and pulling carts Newfoundland dogs. are known for their giant size intelligence tremendous strength calm dispositions and loyalty they excel at water rescue and lifesaving because of their muscular build thick double coat webbed feet and amazing swimming abilities. they are the real David Hasselhoff’s of the sea with their extreme and impressive Baywatch life-saving skills as demonstrated here by charity newfound friends, who regularly showcase the amazing abilities of their dogs. today I am visiting Hayley Howard gash’s huge pack of Newfoundlands in rural Wales where I hope to be treated to some of their water-loving characteristics as well as to experience the kindness and gentle nature that these dogs are so famous for Brown ones really excitable right under in excitable. they have a fruit loop oh really what the whole color is a little bit more lively people do it’s just a color gene so I doubt I don’t were there anything in it but people who say I’m crazy are you crazy lovely personalities though after the initial warm and licky greeting. I was very keen to experience some of the dog’s water skills so he headed straight out to the river and despite the lesson thrilling weather water was water to these dogs. and they came charging down the hill when they knew it was River playtime one of Hailey’s dogs was a real rascal who we almost lost her a couple of times her love of water was super scary but luckily as they are such powerful swimmers. she would always pull herself out onto the bank every time after playtime we headed inside to chat about this sweet and gentle canine friend two fishermen and families worldwide Anika now you’ve met the adults to show you oh really this way babies baby.some of these are youngers. so actually better at swimming probably than the average dog right must be very Hardy too because if they get in the water in Canada in all will be super Hardy nobody do they soak up the water do you find it just sort of repels off them no they do soak up water so they’re just tough dogs. they don’t feel it they love it what colors do they come and we’ve got some Browns here and we got some blacks and blacks probably and the ones with a snootful and you get your lands here so white in the back dog which happens to wait you’ve got a house full so obviously, they’re very very good at living with each other yes and they’re very addictive and even though they’re quite big and they’ve got big mouths there’s a little bit of slobber. but it’s really not a lot there’s no such thing as a new family we do find slobber in the most unlikely places I mean hanging off the ceiling it gets everywhere we are not for the house Brown and what are they like we shedding there’s a lot of furs come out bags a bit in an uncracked a guy that you know opened boiled egg in there pairing it you don’t know Oh lovely it is quite intense. I mean there is a lot of grooming involved they do get very matted quite quickly what I think to apotheosis is if you do ten minutes every day when you take the puppy home so it gets used to it yeah you get into a routine then it’s not quite so bad but when you walk them do they gravitate to water do you find that if you’re walking in a field and like a river, it’s like oh gosh they’re just gonna go in that River. the Newfoundland dogs have Floopy ears. this is naturally ears. the Newfoundland dogs required or want exercise 30 minutes per day. his Longevity Range is 8 to 10 years. their snore is low.in the Newfoundlands the male dog is approximately 28 inches tall.and weight is 55 to 70 kg. This is a very big weight and enough. the female is a little smaller than the male its height is 25 to 26 inches.and weight is (45 to 60 kilogram).most of the Newfoundland’s dogs are black.and most of the mix black with the white and also brown in colors with white splashes on the chest and tail tip. Newfoundland puppies are very friendly and easily adjust to living in the house. this breed of this dog is trustworthy and tolerant of the behavior of the children. after the birth of the Newfoundland dogs, they require many foods for his growth.during the years of five. the literally gain the weight up to 100 pounds. after the five years.their metabolism goes slow down also affects their health.literally the Newfoundland dogs is a very friendly dog that always wants companies of the children as well as teenagers.these dogs are quite yes when you walk them are they excitable dogs are they sort of vibrant or are they quite slow and calm to walk. they walk with you rather than a border collie you know to do 10 times your newfound and will walk with you what’s the recall like, if you put the work in as a puppy then you can get them you well you can advise them whether they listen to you or not is another problem, it’s all about training and they are stubborn yes all right okay. so even if you train them really really early that’s already in their character so you’re gonna have to battle against that what would the life expectancy be of a dog like this 8 to 10 it’s good. I’ve got one that’s coming up to 12 fortunately now most breeders are doing the health test so they know that they’ve got good hearts. before they breed from their heart failures that’s the thing that takes them when they’re younger right if I’m have heard of quite a few now living beyond 10 which is great even though 8 to 10 is their general life expectancy they do actually look really healthy dogs do they suffer from things like bloats and other conditions like that it’s all deep-chested dogs. do notice we think yes is absolutely awful people taking on a large breed like this need to be very vigilant enough to feed them correctly and water them correctly don’t exercise them. when they’re absolutely stuck with food it’s that sort of time between feeding and exercise how heavy are the females compared to the males a male Newfoundland can be a brand 70 kilos female around 60 65 okay so she’s still quite big she’s quite close to the male size and the males are they a lot taller males could be about 1730 meters. and new 5560 yeah and to the males look a lot different do they know they got more hair yeah bigger heads. the thing about a giant breed is that you can’t need to choose food okay you have to wait till they finish growing you around two or three years okay that’s important that’s to allow the bones and everything in the head size to come in and everything aggression same-sex aggression. and you know it shouldn’t be aggressive so usually quite nice if they meet some dogs on a walk and they like their own breed to feel curious about different breeds but very same another Newfoundland and with the puppies because they’re a giant breed is the case of the careful exercises and as they’re growing we advise that there are limited exercises of a puppy but to be perfectly honest if you’re taking it you found a puppy out for what you don’t get very far so many we always stop you to chat just thank you right yeah, when they’re grown up how much exercise would one of these dogs need a day to be happy and fulfills not a great deal. I’m just playing in the house like you’ve been doing just playing like that is yeah so they don’t need to run off some dogs. you’ve just got to run the energy out of them haven’t you otherwise they’d be a bit destructive in the house. yeah so these are just very relaxed very calm yes they are very fun like they actually self limit their exercise if you’ve found that you’ve done too much exercise one day the next day they won’t go out yeah what would you say is the best thing about the Newfoundland in one sentence character everything you’ve never have another dog. after you’ve had an event Oh and what would you say then is the do the worse thing that they do would you say like a mess like just splashing in the water. and dogs smell out of every dog I have filmed to date I had not met a kinder sweeter and more empathetic dog I would totally recommend this dog hand on heart as a gentle family companion who would not only be calm and lie down in your home be gentle and tolerant around children but also super fun-loving on walks a real beautiful gem of a dog and one that had totally won my heart as long as you don’t mind having to pull them out of rivers drinking troughs and puddles all of the time.
