See the list below to find all of the Cat Shines at Lake Lapcat:
This simple Shine puzzle can be found right outside Pounce Bounce Isle, and is revealed after getting the first flash on that island.
Northeast of Lake Giga Bell, you will be able to find a group of circular stone platforms in the water with a wheel on one of them. Use Cat Bell to transform into Cat Mario and pull up the wheel to reveal a large platform Shine will be at the top of. Once fully stretched, quickly zip across and zip like Cat Mario to reach the shine.
You can find Cat Shine once you defeat the Bowser for the first time at Lakeside Giga Bell.
Once the lake’s second section is open, return to Lakeside Giga Bell to find a large calico cat in distress. He misses his baby, and it is up to Mario to find him.
To get that shine, simply look over to the other side of Giga Bell towards Fort Flaptrap to find a smaller cat pushing the ball around. He will try to run away if you get close, but if you equip the Super Bell, the cat will approach, allowing you to catch him with Y. Return him to earn Cat Shine.
This Cat Shine is just below the main gateway to Slipskate Cliff on the second set of islands. Look for a single blue ground pound button, which will fire a square against two Piranha Fireflies and many Goombas.
It is highly recommended to use an offensive power like a boomerang or fire flower to quickly shrink your enemies, and go to plants first before taking out the slowest and easiest goombas to tackle.
Defeat them all, and you will receive Cat Shine as your prize.
The Cat Shine is part of a chronological race that can only be experienced when riding Plessy near the second set of islands.
Ride Plessy south of the Trickity Tower to find a large ring with Plessy’s face on it, and dash into it to start a course about time. To complete it, just follow the loops, making sure you reach each speed ramp – jumping to achieve maximum speed.
Once the rings have veered left, take the large ramp to the platform at Pounce Bounce Isle, and jump across it all the way to Giga Bell where Cat Shine awaits.
Cat Shine sits on a floating island high above Ruins Giga Bell, but getting there will inadvertently require Bowser’s help.
In Ruins Giga Bell, look for the large section of cart blocks at the corner of the platform, and wait for the final Bowser to arrive. When he appears, hide behind blocks to let him smash them for you, and he will reveal a tube cannon.
Use it quickly to fly to a floating platform with many speed blocks. Thankfully, there are invisible platforms among the speed boosters, so you can run straight to Cat Shine at the end – just make sure you pass the Bowser scent!
You can find the Cat Shine in a private area that can only be accessed by opening a cloud tube to a secret area.
See the East of the Ruins Giga Bell to discover a small island with three bell trees, and climb the tallest of them to find a secret cloud tube platform.
In this section, you will need to use the Super Stars to run at full speed along a narrow path and defeat all of the Biddybuds you encounter. In order to activate Cat Shine, all enemies must be defeated, and although there is no timer, it can be difficult to take the right path on the speed lines, and if you move too far forward, you may not be able to turn back, and you will have to try again.
If you slow down, feel free to limit your move before moving to the next speed bar, and be sure to grab the superstar first to ensure you get the Cat Shine in the end.
This Cat Shine is in a normal overwater scene near the Crisp Climb Castle, but you’ll need a trick to get to it.
Travel along the entrance to Crisp Climb Castle Island, and you’ll notice icebergs popping up in the nearby waters before floating south to the Trickity Tower. Fasten one of the ride as it appears, then ride it midway to reach the shine by sitting on top of the iceberg.
For the Cat Shine, you’ll once again need the help of a large calico cat to find his three lost cats nearby.
The former is fairly close together, and just hides in the sand to the east of the Ruins Giga Bell out of sight of a mother cat. Remember to put on the Bell suit so the cat doesn’t try to escape, then hold it with a Y and put it back.
The second cat is a little further away – in the arched lane where Clawswipe Colosseum is. It’s on top of the trail, so you either have to climb like Cat Mario, or carefully climb the sides, and then use the slightly submerged platforms to avoid falling into the water as you carry the cat home.
Finally, a third cat can be found along the way on Crisp Climb Castle Island to the northwest. The way back will be long and dangerous, so it’s a good idea to use Plessie to kill hammerhead sharks, and swim quickly all the way to the island where the cat can be found near the curved path on the ground.
To return, you’ll need to use floating icebergs that move down to the lower island, move around invisible walls, cross shallow waters patrolling sharks head, and then finally return to the mother cat.
This Cat Shine is located on a group of hexagonal ice floes near Crisp Climb Castle among the second group of islands.
Just look southwest from the arched lane of Crisp Climb Castle to find a few iceberg platforms that feature a purple button that you can pound on to form an arena full of enemies – two ice pokeys and a host of cheapness.
It is highly recommended that you bring an attack force like a Fire Flower to deal with pokeys, or let Bowser Jr. Beating them up a little for you. Once every other enemy in the arena is defeated, Cat Shine will be yours.
A simple and direct encounter, this shiny cat is in possession of a fast-paced rabbit.
Look for it once you get 1 Cat Shine from nearby Clawswipe Colosseum, and you’ll find it on a small island to the north. With Plessie, chase the rabbit, and try to follow him into the interior of his turn to catch him as he swerves left or right to catch and claim your prize.
The Cat Shine is part of a chronological race that can only be experienced when riding Plessie, and once you get to the Cat Shine from the Crisp Climb Castle near the second set of islands.
Ride Plessie south of Crisp Climb Castle to find a large ring with Plessie’s face, and set out to start a time trial course. To complete it, just follow the loops, making sure you reach each speed ramp – jumping to achieve maximum speed.
Jumping when hitting each slope is essential, as the race will move from the water to long floating platforms, and you won’t have the ability to correct the track if you fall. Be prepared when the course veers right below the Slipskate Slope, as you’ll need to turn hard and hit all remaining boosts to get the Cat Shine at the end.
A simple and direct encounter, this Cat Shine has a very capricious and fast rabbit, who only appears after defeating Bowser twice and unlocking the lake completely.
You’ll find him on a small island to the west of Giga Bell Lake after you’ve beaten the Bowser twice. With Plessie, chase the rabbit, and try to follow him into the interior of his turn to catch him as he swerves left or right to catch and claim your prize.
The Cat Shine is part of a timed race that can only be experienced when riding on Plessie, and once you defeat the Bowser twice to unlock the entire island
Ride in Plessy and return to the first set of islands, looking northwest from Bounce Island – and you’ll find there is a large ring with Plessy’s face on it, and ride through it to start an experimental time course under a waterfall. To complete it, just follow the loops and make sure you achieve every speed boost.
Unlike other races, this one will lead you towards gates very low, and you’ll need to use the Plessie (Y) diving motion to dive underwater before hitting the grid to ensure the surface is on the other side and hit the speed boost to keep your momentum going. You only need to do this multiple times to get to Cat Shine on the other side of the falls.
The Cat Shine also works as a secret shortcut from Group A of Islands to Group Three, and can only be accessed after defeating Bowser a second time to reveal the full lake area.
Once you can travel to the third set of islands, ride Plessy north from Lakeside Giga Bell to the falls to find a small platform at the base with a button that you can grind. This will call up a bunch of platform blocks that you’ll need to quickly expand to get to the top before time runs out.
This is highly recommended with Cat Mario, as you’ll be able to scale multiple poles a lot easier to measure quickly and efficiently by going straight to the center – otherwise you’ll need to speed up from side to side.
You can find the Cat Shine off the main path once you reach the upper lake area where the last set of islands are, north of the Great Volcano.
When the main path goes up through the ink, take a small left path to find a button you can pound to reveal an arena full of enemies – including Goombas and Spike on a high platform.
Quickly collaborate with Bowser Jr. And cheat Spike’s side to take it out first, then handle all the Goombas. You might find that defeating them all won’t end the fight – because there’s a coin covered enemy between the two platforms on the right. Uncover and defeat him, and Cat Shine will be yours to claim him.
Cat Shine is on the far western side of the last group of islands once the lake is fully discovered.
As you navigate narrow water paths through groups of goo and spot of Splounders in the water, turn right toward a small pathway that leads to a lonely island and ramp behind.
On the island, clear the boxes to find a large jump board that sends you into a cloud cannon, and a short side event.
If you slow down, feel free to plan your move before moving to the next speed bar or the big jump, and be sure to grab the superstars first to ensure you get the Cat Shine in the end.
Cat Shine is in the southwest corner of the Wasteland Giga Bell, where the last group of islands is.
Look around the corner of Barren District for a lonely purple button that you can pound to reveal an arena full of enemies.
To win the Cat Shine, you must defeat the enemies of a variety of Hammer Bros, Goombas and Bee that dot the large arena. Fortunately, you can outmaneuver them to find POW blocks along the sides to quickly hit Hammer Bros and the POW block in the middle to remove the Goombas. Defeat them all, and Cat Shine is yours.
As for the Cat Shine, you’ll again need the help of the Giga Bowser to help you achieve your goal.
Head to the southeast corner of the Wasteland Giga Bell to find a huge pile of Bowser Blocks, and wait for the giant to arrive. Drop behind the blocks as it unleashes the blast to find a tube cannon hidden underneath, then shoot into the sky.
Once you land, you can spot a series of cloud platforms with a curved, spring-like structure that you can throw yourself. Use this to quickly jump to each new platform and dodge the cart until you can reach the Cat Shine – although noticing there are invisible platforms running the entire length.
You can find this bright cat atop a long wall that separates the top of the last group of carrots from the bottom.
Use Plessie to swim to the back of the tube track tower where you can find a thin wall with sections of Bowser Blocks. You don’t necessarily need a Bowser to make a hole for you, since you can either go through a pipe-track tower and jump into a wall, or simply ride Plessie up the wall, jump, jaw, and climb like Cat Mario.
This Cat Shine stands on a lonely island surrounded by spray, and unfortunately the slope is on the other side, making it seem impossible to reach – but there’s a trick.
Travel north of Roiling Roller Isle to find an impassable east bore – and wait for Giga Bowser to launch his attack. As it does, a new ramp will appear on your side, allowing you to get a boost and cross over to the tiny island to get a Cat Shine, just make sure to get there before the Bowser explodes!
This shine can be seen early as you navigate the narrow waterways near Wasteland Giga Bell – but it can only be reached after getting the Cat Shine from Risky Whisker Island.
Once part of the spleen is cleared, look north from Risky Whisker Island to find a small island with a wheel that you can hit like Cat Mario, and it will raise a nearby platform against two rocky poles with rocky licks that patrol them. Dash quickly after raising the platform and jump over the passes to climb the stone pillars, and dive between them to reach the shine.
The Cat Shine is part of a timed race that can only be experienced when riding a Plessie and after you’ve got the Cat Shine off a tubing track tower.
