LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – New dog training program that combines beer and dogs. It is called “hops and hounds”.

The course includes a mixture of online and in-person lessons.

Dog owners learn skills and techniques online and then apply them in person at the People Brewing Company in Lafayette.

Kristi Burton, owner of whimsical puppy training, told News 18 the course is a perfect opportunity for both pets and people.

“Dogs don’t come out as they used to. People don’t come out as if they did.” Burton explained to News 18. “It’s kind of like socializing dogs and people.”

Burton told us that the creative idea sprang from another solution to the pandemic.
“Going to Fresh Air Eats downtown was such a great thing to be able to do. We have many dog-friendly breweries in town.” Burton told News 18 that she wants her program to also support local businesses.

The Hops and Hounds training course kicks off February 22nd.
